Central Park Night Photography Tour with a Professional Photographer

Central Park after dark is a different subject: lamps along the paths, lit arches, the towers of Midtown glowing over the trees. On this two-hour tour with NYC Photo Safari, a professional photographer with industry experience teaches you how to shoot the park in low light, including long exposures of Bethesda Fountain. The group meets at the Pulitzer Fountain at Fifth Avenue and 59th Street, beside the Plaza Hotel, and enters the park from the southeast corner. Gapstow Bridge and the Pond come first, with views of the Manhattan skyline to photograph across the water. From there the route heads north up the Mall to Bethesda Terrace and its fountain, where the long-exposure work happens. The tour ends in the middle of the park at Bethesda Terrace, by 72nd Street, not by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is about ten blocks further north on Fifth Avenue. From the terrace, Terrace Drive leads out to Fifth Avenue on the east side or Central Park West on the west side. Bring your own camera and your own tripod: tripods are not provided, and you will need one for night shots. Participants must be at least 18, and one booking covers up to 8 people. The walk calls for a moderate level of fitness and is not wheelchair accessible. The guiding is in English. Taxes and fees are included; gratuities and hotel pickup are not. The Plaza Hotel subway stop (5th Ave/59th St) is right by the meeting point.
