Met Museum Small-Group Tour: Egyptian, European and Asian Art with Admission

Most people who try to see the Met on their own end up spending half the visit looking at the map. This tour takes the opposite approach: two hours, three departments, and a guide who has already picked the route. The three are Egyptian Art, European Paintings and Asian Art. In each one the guide stops at a selection of works and objects and fills in what the labels leave out: who made them, what was happening at the time, and how a piece from one civilization connects to something you saw twenty minutes earlier in another. It is meant as an introduction to the museum, not an attempt to cover all of it in one go. Admission is included in the price. Everyone still passes through the museum's security check on the way in. Groups are small, capped at 12 travelers, which makes it easier to hear the guide and ask questions as you go. The tour is in English. The meeting point is inside the main entrance on Fifth Avenue: look for the Pharaoh statue on your right as you come in. The tour ends at the museum, so you can stay and keep exploring afterwards. This is a sensible first visit, or a good option for anyone who wants a clear way into the Met without spending an evening planning a route. The route suits all fitness levels, and infants sit on an adult's lap. The Egyptian galleries are large, and the museum does not guarantee that every gallery is open on a given day. Single rooms can close at short notice: several Egyptian galleries closed at the end of September 2026, and the Temple of Dendur was shut for a few days in the same week before it reopened.
