Metropolitan Museum of Art Guided Tour in Spanish with an Art Historian

This is a two-hour tour of the Met given entirely in Spanish, led by an art history specialist who is an official New York guide. Admission to the museum is included. The Met covers 5,000 years of history, and the building is big enough that first-time visitors often lose half their visit to the floor plan. The route here goes straight to the most important galleries and stops at the main works, with the guide explaining what you are looking at and why it matters. Egyptian art comes first: sarcophagi, sculpture and the Temple of Dendur. Then Greek pottery and Roman art, followed by paintings by Velázquez, El Greco, Botticelli, Vermeer, Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin and Dalí, among others. There is a strong Spanish thread running through the tour. You will stand in the Vélez Blanco patio, a Renaissance courtyard brought over from a castle in Almería, and in front of the iron choir screen from Valladolid Cathedral. A note on the temple: the museum does not guarantee that every gallery is open on a given day, and single galleries can close at short notice.
